Grandfather performs funeral for deceased grandson: “I felt he wanted me to dance with him”

He was overthrown by the dead.

An Italian grandfather, Gino Gentilin, celebrated the tragic loss of his grandson’s life in the usual way.

Gentilin, 66, lost his nephew Kevin Gentilin, 15, in a car accident when he was riding his old Vespa scooter to school when he was hit by a car while driving through rush hour traffic in Castelfranco Veneto , Italy, on October 25.

In honor of his relatives, Gentilin wanted to see off his beloved in a way that they connected, dancing to techno and pop music.

At the funeral, the 66-year-old broke into a tribute dance routine by Kevin’s coffin as family and friends cheered him on.

“In those moments I felt Kevin’s presence between us and I felt that he wanted me to dance with him so that we could have fun together once again,” Gentilin told NewsFlash.

Before the honorable performance, he asked permission from his son and daughter-in-law, who graciously granted it.

“The speaker started blasting music, first 883, then Brothers and finally a remix by DJ Matrix,” Gentilin said.

While dancing at the funeral, he felt spiritually connected to Kevin, sending him off with high energy instead of somberness.

“I turned directly to him, I yelled, ‘Fly Kevin, now you’re free!'” Gentilin said. “He and I were kindred spirits. He came to visit me every night, we talked about everything.

The pair shared a deep interest in music, often feeling like friends rather than grandparents and grandchildren.

“I was exhausted, but at the same time I felt light,” said Gentilin about his dance tribute.

However, he didn’t realize that funeral attendees were recording his unique dance moment until it went viral.

“What I didn’t know is that they would film the scene with their cell phones and that the video would end up on social networks and in newspapers,” he confessed.

Without meaning to offend anyone, Gentilin revealed his reasoning behind the jump and the impact it left on his grandson.

“I apologize if I offended anyone’s sensibilities, but believe me the dance, a declaration of love for my grandson, saved me,” he admitted.
